Member Biography
Brad Meyers enlisted in the United States Army in 1984 and graduated from Basic Training, AIT, and Airborne School at Fort Benning, Georgia. Following Airborne School he served with the 1st Battalion, 508th Infantry (Airborne) and 3rd Battalion, 505th Infantry (Airborne), 82nd Airborne Division. While assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division he deployed to the Sinai in support of the Multi-National Forces and Observers Mission and graduated from Ranger School Class 11-87. In 1988 CSM Meyers was assigned to the 6th Infantry Division (Light) at Fort Richardson, Alaska where he served as a Pre-Ranger Instructor and a Mortar Section Leader and Battalion Mortar Platoon Sergeant with the 1st Battalion, 501st Infantry (ABN). In 1992 CSM Meyers attended the Ranger Orientation Program at Fort Benning, Georgia and was subsequently assigned to the 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment at Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia. While assigned to the 1st Ranger Battalion, he served as a Mortar Section Leader, Weapons Platoon Sergeant, Battalion Operations Sergeant and Company A First Sergeant.
He was then assigned as the Regimental Headquarters Company First Sergeant. CSM Meyers deployed in support of Operations Restore/ Uphold Democracy in Haiti, Operation Enduring Freedom 2001 and 2002 in Afghanistan, and Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003. CSM Meyers was selected for promotion to Sergeant Major and attended the US Army Sergeants’ Major Academy in 2003, graduating USASMA Class 54. Upon graduation, he was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 508th Infantry (Airborne) of the 173d Airborne Brigade in Vicenza, Italy. He was appointed to Command Sergeant Major in October 2005. He deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom VI and VIII as the Battalion CSM for 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry (Airborne) of the 173rd Airborne BDE. In 2008 CSM Meyers was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment where he served as the Battalion CSM for two deployments in support of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom. In 2010 CSM Meyers was assigned as the Battalion CSM of the Special Troops Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment and deployed three more times in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. In February of 2012 CSM Meyers was assigned to 3rd Brigade, 1st Infantry Division where he served as the Brigade Command Sergeant Major.
In 2013 CSM Meyers deployed for the last time in support of the Global War on Terror to Afghanistan as the BDE CSM for 3-1 IBCT, “TF Duke”; “Operation Enduring Freedom XIII-XIV”. CSM Meyers retired from the US Army on 1 January 2015 after 31 years of service. He has worked as an independent contract instructor for both the US Army and the US Marine Corps since his retirement. His awards include the Legion of Merit (1OLC) , Bronze Star Medal w/ Valor Device, Bronze Star Medal (3OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (3OLC), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal w/ Valor Device, Army Commendation Medal (5OLC), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal (4OLC), Navy Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal (10AWD), National Defense Service Medal w/ Bronze Service Star, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal w/ 4 Bronze Service Stars, Iraq Campaign Medal w/ 2 Bronze Service Stars, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon w/ Numeral 4, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon w/ Numeral 5, Multi-National Forces and Observers Medal, the NATO Medal, Presidential Unit Citation (Army), Presidential Unit Citation (Navy), Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Valorous Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Citation and the Army Superior Unit Award. CSM Meyers has also earned the Expert Infantryman’s Badge, the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Ranger Tab, Master Parachutist Badge, and the Air Assault Badge.
